Coney Island Hospital’s three inseparable priorities are Quality Care, Patient Safety and Customer Service. Our hospital is rated best overall among all Brooklyn hospitals in the care of heart attack and pneumonia patients on quality indicators issued by the New York State Department of Health achieving ratings of 99.2% and 97% respectively . We are a designated stroke center with the fastest “door to treatment” time in the City. We have utilized technology to enhance patient safety. Our medical records are computerized and physician order entry of prescriptions and medication orders significantly reduces the chance of errors. We have expanded our Customer Services/Patient Relations Department to allow our patients and their families access to a Patient Representative to assist them from 9 AM to 9 PM – 365 days a year. The new Tower Pavilion is the most visible sign of the array of technology and clinical procedures available at our hospital. We have added state-of-the-art diagnostic technology in Nuclear Medicine and new CT Scanners to complement the MRI and other technology already available. We have expanded our Ambulatory Surgery options and patients come from all over the City for our renowned comprehensive Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery program. We continue to forge relationships with community physicians in private practice so that their patients can receive care at Coney Island Hospital. In the years that it has been my privilege to serve at Coney Island Hospital and now in my role as Executive Director, I have seen many changes in our community. Southern Brooklyn is a dynamic, diverse, culturally rich community in which to live and work. I believe that our hospital has changed and grown along with our community.
